What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) uses light touch to help release the body’s connective tissue or “fascia”. Fascia (Latin word for “band”) is a covering found throughout the body including in and around organs, glands, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, the brain and spinal cord. This covering forms a body-wide connective network. CST is based on the idea that the body is interrelated at all levels and that any dysfunction in one part of the body will affect the way other parts of the body work. Gentle touch encourages the relaxation of muscles and facilitates the body’s ability to repair and self-correct.
Craniosacral Therapy is not only used to treat a current condition; it is increasingly used as a preventative health measure, due to its ability to bolster resistance to disease. Our CST therapist, Carrie, recommend that you plan on giving CST at least 3-4 sessions to have an effect - although in many situations it may make a noticeable difference in your symptoms more quickly.
